CCW Map Disclaimer
& Liability Notice

Data origin, accuracy limitations, legal disclaimers, and liability disclosure for the Nationwide Police Services CCW Reciprocity Map tool.

⚠️
Important: This CCW Reciprocity Map is provided for general informational and educational purposes only. It does not constitute legal advice and should never be used as the sole basis for decisions about carrying a firearm across state lines. Always verify current laws directly with official state authorities before carrying. Laws change frequently and consequences for violations can be severe.
01

Purpose & Scope

Nationwide Police Services LLC ("NPS," "we," "us," or "our") provides an interactive CCW (Concealed Carry Weapon) Reciprocity Map ("the Map") as a free public educational resource on our website at nationwidepolice.com and within the NPS Portal application at npsportal.app.

The Map is intended to help firearms owners, security professionals, and members of the public gain a general understanding of concealed carry laws, permit requirements, constitutional carry status, and interstate reciprocity agreements across all 50 United States and the District of Columbia.

This Map is an educational tool only. It is not a legal database, not a real-time government record, and not a substitute for professional legal advice or direct consultation with state law enforcement agencies.

02

Origin & Nature of Data

The data displayed in the CCW Reciprocity Map was compiled and generated through the following process:

  • AI-Assisted Research: State-by-state CCW data was researched and compiled using artificial intelligence trained on publicly available information, including state statutes, official state police publications, attorney general guidance documents, and established legal resources.
  • Public Government Sources: The underlying legal information — carry laws, permit types, reciprocity agreements, minimum age requirements, training requirements, and self-defense statutes — reflects publicly available state and federal law. This information is not proprietary and is drawn from public government sources.
  • No Third-Party Proprietary Database: NPS does not license, subscribe to, or reproduce data from any third-party CCW data service, proprietary database, or paid information provider. All data was independently compiled from public sources.
  • Official Source Links: Each state entry includes a link to that state's official law enforcement or attorney general website so users can independently verify current laws.
  • Quarterly Refresh Schedule: NPS updates the Map data on a quarterly basis using AI-assisted research with live internet access to capture recent statutory changes, new reciprocity agreements, and updated permit requirements.

Last Data Refresh: Data was most recently updated in Q2 2026. The next scheduled refresh is Q3 2026. The Map displays the last updated date at time of refresh.

Note on AI-Generated Data: While AI research draws from authoritative public sources, it is not infallible. State laws change, court rulings alter enforcement, and reciprocity agreements are added or removed without advance notice. NPS cannot guarantee that every data point is current or complete at the time of viewing.

03

Accuracy Limitations

Concealed carry laws are among the most dynamic areas of state law in the United States. The following limitations apply to all data displayed in the Map:

  • Laws change without notice. State legislatures pass new firearms laws regularly. Constitutional carry has expanded to 27 states in recent years, reciprocity agreements are added and removed, and court rulings (such as NYSRPA v. Bruen) can fundamentally alter how states issue permits.
  • Local ordinances may differ. Even in states with permissive carry laws, individual cities and counties may impose additional restrictions. The Map reflects state-level law only and does not capture local ordinances.
  • Reciprocity is not always mutual. Some states honor out-of-state permits under conditions the Map may not fully capture — for example, some states only honor permits from residents of the issuing state, or only honor permits from states with equivalent training requirements.
  • Sensitive locations are not mapped. Even where carry is otherwise legal, federal law and state law prohibit carry in schools, government buildings, courthouses, polling places, and other sensitive locations. The Map does not map these restrictions.
  • Federal law applies everywhere. Federal firearms laws apply in all states regardless of state carry laws. The Map does not reflect federal restrictions.
  • Data may contain errors. Despite reasonable efforts to ensure accuracy, the Map may contain typographical errors, outdated information, or inaccuracies. NPS makes no warranty of accuracy or completeness.
04

No Legal Advice

Nothing contained in the CCW Reciprocity Map, on the nationwidepolice.com website, or in the NPS Portal application constitutes legal advice. NPS is a licensed security agency and MPCTC-approved training provider — we are not a law firm and do not provide legal services.

Using this Map to make decisions about carrying a firearm across state lines — without independently verifying current laws — could result in serious criminal consequences including arrest, prosecution, felony charges, and permanent loss of firearm rights. The stakes are high. Always verify.

If you have specific questions about your right to carry in a particular state, consult a licensed attorney in that jurisdiction or contact that state's official law enforcement agency directly.

Recommended verification sources: Each state entry in the Map includes a direct link to that state's official law enforcement website (state police, department of public safety, or attorney general). Use these links — not the Map summary alone — before traveling with a firearm.

05

Limitation of Liability

By accessing or using the CCW Reciprocity Map, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

  • Use at your own risk. You assume all risk associated with your use of this Map and any decisions made in reliance upon it.
  • No warranty. NPS provides the Map "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
  • No liability for legal consequences. Nationwide Police Services LLC, its owners, officers, employees, agents, and affiliates shall not be liable for any criminal charges, civil liability, fines, penalties, loss of rights, or other consequences arising from reliance on information provided in this Map.
  • No liability for data errors. NPS shall not be liable for any damages arising from inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated information in the Map, whether caused by AI research limitations, legislative changes, data entry errors, or any other cause.
  • Indemnification. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Nationwide Police Services LLC from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Map or your violation of any applicable law.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability. In such jurisdictions, the above limitations apply to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.

06

Intellectual Property

The underlying legal information displayed in this Map — state statutes, carry laws, permit requirements, reciprocity agreements — constitutes publicly available government information and is not subject to copyright protection.

The following elements are the intellectual property of Nationwide Police Services LLC and may not be reproduced without written permission:

  • The Map's user interface design, layout, and visual presentation
  • The compiled and structured database format of state CCW data as organized by NPS
  • The Map's code, including front-end rendering, interactive features, and data visualization components
  • All NPS branding, logos, trade names, and associated materials displayed in or alongside the Map

Color coding note: The color-coded state classifications used in this Map (green for constitutional carry, blue for shall-issue, etc.) are based on universally understood intuitive color associations and do not replicate any proprietary design system. The underlying legal categories themselves — constitutional carry, shall-issue, may-issue — are standard legal classifications used throughout the public domain.

07

How to Verify

Before traveling with a firearm, NPS strongly recommends verifying current laws through the following official channels:

  • Your state's official carry permit authority — typically the State Police, Department of Public Safety, or Bureau of Criminal Investigation
  • The destination state's official law enforcement website — available via the "Official State Source" button on each state in the Map
  • The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) — atf.gov — for federal firearms regulations
  • A licensed firearms attorney in the relevant jurisdiction for complex situations or if you have any doubt

NPS also offers Maryland Wear & Carry Permit training, HQL qualification, and security firearms courses at our White Marsh facility. Our instructors can address Maryland-specific carry questions in the context of our training programs. For training inquiries call (240) 749-1141 or visit nationwidepolice.com/training.
